Vecinos critican la falta de seguridad en el sector y la demora en la apertura del nuevo cuartel de la PDI, que, pese a estar terminado hace semanas, aún no tiene fecha para iniciar sus funciones ni atender a la comunidad.
Pudahuel, Santiago de Chile. 5 de octubre de 2025. — El moderno edificio de la Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) en Pudahuel, que tardó más de dos décadas en concretarse, ya está completamente terminado. Sin embargo, mientras funcionarios trabajan en su interior, las puertas siguen cerradas al público. En el sector, vecinos y comerciantes denuncian que la esperada promesa de seguridad continúa sin cumplirse, pese a que la infraestructura luce lista desde hace semanas.
El proyecto, impulsado hace más de veinte años por el exalcalde y actual concejal Johnny Carrasco, está destinado a albergar a la Brigada de Investigación Criminal de Pudahuel, la Brigada de Robos Metropolitana Occidente y la Prefectura Metropolitana Occidente de la PDI. Su construcción respondió a la necesidad de reforzar la seguridad en una zona que durante años ha registrado un aumento sostenido de delitos violentos.
Frente a las nuevas instalaciones se encuentra el CESFAM Cardenal Raúl Silva Henríquez, un punto de atención clave en el sector. Claudio Albornoz, funcionario del centro de salud, relató la frustración que viven trabajadores y usuarios: “Ya hemos sufrido ataques; nos han quebrado los vidrios. Con un cuartel operativo, aunque sea de forma interna, a escasos metros, me sigo sintiendo totalmente inseguro”.
El temor también alcanza al comercio local. En la misma calle, frente al CESFAM, se ubica el local de comida “Doña Cruz”. Una de sus dueñas, Georgina Bustamante, comentó que las noches siguen siendo complicadas: “Ha estado medio malón. No se siente la presencia de la PDI por ahora”. Aun así, mantiene la esperanza de que la apertura total del cuartel permita a los comerciantes y vecinos sentirse más seguros.
Desde el interior del recinto, un funcionario —que prefirió no ser identificado— señaló que el cuartel está operativo desde hace un mes, aunque evitó referirse a la fecha de atención al público.
Cabe recordar que durante una visita oficial al complejo policial el 26 de marzo de 2024, el alcalde de Pudahuel, Ítalo Bravo, junto al gobernador de la Región Metropolitana, Claudio Orrego, el subsecretario de Prevención del Delito, Eduardo Vergara, y tres consejeros regionales (cores), recorrieron la obra del futuro cuartel. En esa ocasión, el gobernador Orrego anunció que la obra estaba terminada y recepcionada, y que la inauguración se esperaba para junio o agosto de ese año. Sin embargo, ha pasado más de un año desde esa afirmación, y el recinto aún no ha sido inaugurado ni presta atención a la comunidad.
El contraste es evidente: después de dos décadas de espera, el edificio está terminado, el personal asignado y las brigadas instaladas, pero la comunidad sigue aguardando la parte más importante del proyecto: que el cuartel abra sus puertas y cumpla, por fin, con su propósito de brindar seguridad real a los vecinos y garantizar que los delitos no queden impunes.
