El Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, nos invita a reflexionar sobre el flagelo que persiste en siluetas invisibles, pero asfixiantes, en la vida de millones de mujeres en todo el mundo. La violencia psicológica, física, monetaria y sexual contra la mujer, ejercida por su pareja o ex pareja, es considerada un grave problema de salud pública, una violación directa a los derechos humanos de este colectivo y, en su caso más extremo, un atentado contra la vida.
Lamentablemente, entre 2020 y 2022 nuestro país fue víctima de 154 feminicidios según los datos dados a conocer en el primer Informe Estadístico de Homicidios con Perspectiva de Género: Femicidios y Parricidios 2022; mientras que, en lo que va de 2023, se han registrado 37 feminicidios y 192 Femicidios frustrados, según cifras del Ministerio de la Mujer y Equidad de Género.
Pero, más allá de lo alarmante de estas cifras, es esencial ahondar en las raíces de esta problemática y buscar soluciones que trasciendan los límites de la denuncia y la penalización. En este camino hacia la erradicación de la violencia de género, la educación emocional emerge como una herramienta poderosa y transformadora.
La educación emocional no es simplemente un conjunto de conceptos abstractos; es un faro que ilumina el intrincado laberinto de las emociones humanas. Al dotar a las personas, desde una edad temprana, de las herramientas necesarias para comprender, gestionar y expresar sus emociones, estamos construyendo cimientos sólidos para una sociedad más justa y equitativa. Es en este contexto donde la prevención de la violencia contra la mujer encuentra un aliado indispensable.
Uno de los aspectos clave de la educación emocional es desafiar los estereotipos de género arraigados en nuestra cultura. Desde temprana edad, se nos enseña que ciertas emociones son "apropiadas" para hombres o mujeres, perpetuando roles tradicionales que pueden llevar a la intolerancia y a la desigualdad. La educación emocional desmantela estos prejuicios al promover la aceptación y validación de todas las emociones, independientemente del género.
En demasiadas ocasiones, la violencia se gesta en el silencio de las emociones no expresadas, en la incapacidad de algunos individuos para canalizar su frustración, miedo o ira de manera saludable.
La educación emocional, al enseñar la importancia de reconocer y respetar las emociones propias y ajenas, actúa como un escudo protector contra la violencia que puede surgir de la incomunicación y la falta de empatía.
Es por ello que resulta crucial incorporar la educación emocional en los programas educativos desde la infancia. Cuando los niños aprenden a identificar y gestionar sus emociones, desarrollan una comprensión más profunda de sí mismos y de los demás. Este conocimiento no solo fortalece los lazos sociales, sino que también se convierte en una barrera natural contra la intolerancia y el abuso.
En el contexto de la violencia contra la mujer, la educación emocional desempeña un papel fundamental en la construcción de relaciones basadas en el respeto mutuo. Enseñar a los jóvenes a reconocer signos de control y manipulación emocional, así como promover el valor de la igualdad en las relaciones, son pasos esenciales hacia la prevención de la violencia de género.
Debemos abogar no solo por la condena de los actos violentos, sino por la construcción de una sociedad que, a través de la educación emocional, cultive el respeto, la empatía y la igualdad.
Recordemos que la erradicación de este flagelo requiere un compromiso colectivo, transitemos esta senda hacia un futuro donde la dignidad y el respeto sean los pilares fundamentales de nuestras relaciones.
