Gabriele Castro se convierte en la primera persona de Cerro Navia en obtener una cédula de identidad no binaria, marcando un hito en la lucha por los derechos de la diversidad sexual y de género.
Cerro Navia, Santiago de Chile, 26 de septiembre 2023. Hace algunas semanas, Cerro Navia celebró un hito histórico en la protección de los derechos de la población no binaria. Gabriele Castro, residente de esta comuna, logró obtener su cédula de identidad que lo reconoce como una persona no binaria, marcando un importante paso en la inclusión de géneros diversos en la identificación oficial.
Este logro fue resultado de un proceso complejo que comenzó hace un año gracias a la colaboración entre la Oficina de la Diversidad y las Disidencias Sexuales de Cerro Navia y la Clínica Jurídica de la Universidad de Chile, liderada por la profesora Lorena Lorca. Incluso el alcalde, Mauro Tamayo, participó en una capacitación previa ofrecida por la docente.
El proceso para obtener el reconocimiento de Gabriele como persona no binaria no fue sencillo, ya que en Chile son escasas las personas que han logrado este tipo de identificación. Se trata de un trámite judicial que exige tiempo y dedicación por parte de quienes lo solicitan.
Gabriele Castro, protagonista de esta historia, acudió a la Oficina de la Diversidad y las Disidencias Sexuales de Cerro Navia, decidido a cumplir su sueño de obtener una cédula de identidad no binaria. Este paso se convirtió en un hito para la comuna, siendo el primer caso registrado en el Registro Civil local.
Este logro no solo representa un gran éxito personal para Gabriele, sino también una importante victoria para las personas trans y no binarias, así como para la comunidad LGBTIQA+ en general. Su valentía y determinación han contribuido al avance de los derechos y la visibilidad de la diversidad de género en Chile, siguiendo el precedente establecido por activistas como Shane Cienfuegos, quien fue la primera persona mayor de edad en obtener una cédula no binaria en el país.
